The name "Sacred Cow" came about one evening while the family was gathered around the dinner table. We were discussing all the things that were sacred in life: family, friends, pets, our home, our bodies, the food and drink we fuel our bodies with... the list went on. The discussion soon turned toward the land and how it is sacred and should be treated as such by way of mindful rotational grazing... The discussion of a dream of opening a dairy farm ensued, and so was born the "Sacred Cow Farm".
Sacred Cow Farm is committed to providing you with high quality dairy products.
This is Harriet. She is one of our first Sacred Cows. She is our lowest "high maintenance" cow. She is our easy milker and lets her sisters hop in line ahead of her.

Our girls, Hailey, Harriet and Susie are grazed on our 40 acres of pastures with free choice minerals and a protein tub. They get their 16% protein grain while being milked.
If you are interested in our farm fresh raw milk, we require you to email us at info@sacredcowfarm.com letting us know which day you would like to pick up, what time and how many gallons you would like to pick up. The following list is taken from the list given to us from where we purchased our girls. We do not plan to further vaccinate.
Most likely, yes! Anecdotal evidence indicates that those who are lactose intolerant can tolerate raw milk. First let's understand what "lactose intolerant" means. You will be lactose intolerant if your small intestine doesn't produce enough of the enzyme lactase, which is what breaks down lactose. Raw milk naturally contains lactase. During the pasteurization process, lactase is rendered inactive and denatured from heat exposure. If the store-bought pasteurized milk is devoid of lactase and is full of lactose, your body will hit a saturation point of lactose. This can manifest itself in a number of GI issues and symptoms, often times associated with pain. It has been found that those who cannot tolerate pasteurized milk, tolerate raw milk just fine because it still contains active lactase. It is recommended to introduce raw milk in small increments to test how your body responds to it.
The milk will last 7-10 days. There are certain practices that you can observe that will ensure the milk lasts as long as possible. Firstly, you can transfer the milk from your gallon bottle to smaller, sterilized half gallon bottles to minimize air exposure. We use a pouring spout like this one on our half gallon jars which really helps minimizes air exposure. Secondly, it is recommended to keep your milk as far toward the back of the fridge as possible. Do not place milk in the shelves on the door because the door is the first place to warm up every time the fridge opens.
